Wellesley cable TV...on the Internet

For those of you who just can't bring yourself to turn off American Idol or a Celtics game or whatever your favorite TV
show might be for a good dose of local programming on WCAC-TV, the Wellesley access channel, here's another option: Watching
it on the Internet instead of whatever else you're supposed to be doing when you're online.
The "Wellesley This Week" news program runs live on TV on Thursday nights and is converted for Internet viewing on Fridays. This past week's edition
includes the multi-talented Owen Dugan (also chairman of the board of selectmen) doing his best Jack Williams, or whoever hosts local newscasts these days...
Meanwhile, look
for more WCAC videos, including sports highlights, online at YouTube in coming weeks. A few videos are already there.
Getting realistic about
Wellesley commuter rail times
The Train Stopping blog gathers up info on an MBTA/MBRC announcement that they will be adjusting the Worcester-Framingham-Boston commuter line schedules to be more realistic. Trains
will be scheduled to come earlier in the a.m. and leave later in the p.m.
Wellesley
State Rep Alice Hanlon Peisch is quoted by the Boston Globe and BostonNow: "If these trains
are never going to be on time, it is far better for the commuter to have the time reflect the reality."
School break at the movies
For those of you staying local, check out the Wellesley Free Library calendar of events for things to do with the kids next week, including a series of movies Tuesday through Thursday, featuring Underdog, Scooby
Doo and others.
DeCordova Museum exhibit
highlights Wellesley collectors' photographs of children
Presumed Innocence:
Photographic Perspectives of Children is on display at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln through April 27. A Phoenix review states:
The exhibit was put together by the DeCordova’s
director of curatorial affairs, Rachel Rosenfield Lafo, who drew exclusively from the collection of Anthony and Beth Terrana,
respectively a periodontist and a former Fidelity fund manager who live in Wellesley.
Anthony Terrana will be on hand to discuss the collection at the museum on Feb. 16 at 3pm.
New pub calls Wellesley 'the Jackie O of suburbs'
Lola, the new women's magazine from Boston Globe Media, visits Wellesley in its February issue, highlighting the Brook Path, Wellesley Toy Shop and Cafe Mangal, among other spots.
Here's a teaser from the editor's
note:
In this easygoing spirit, Lola takes a whimsical look at the very
essence of glamour. What does it mean? Who has it? Why is it important? On our quest, it seemed only natural to visit Wellesley,
the Jackie O of suburbs, on our monthly Field Trip This is a town that captures the sensations of seduction and indulgence,
the classic, unapologetic New England village of the imagination.

on Lola, check out this interview with the editorial director. Here's a list of places where you can find the free magazine.
