Globe writer and Wellesley native Erica Noonan eggs on her old 1988 Wellesley High School classmates to show up at their Oct. 11 class reunion. She dismisses a bunch of excuses she fears they might use to blow off the event:
But seriously folks, even though some of us lived in Wellesley before bloggers started calling it ‘‘Swellesley’’ — in fact, before bloggers even existed — there is something to celebrate about where we came from, and how far we’ve come. Even if some of you are afraid it’s not far enough.
Of course we’d never take credit for coming up with the term Swellesley. Though we do lay claim to having legitimized it.
