Fun fair/fun run Saturday in Wellesley

Wellesley Community Children’s Center’s 29th anual Fun fair/Fun run takes place this Saturday from 8:30am-noon and includes races for kids 3-12 years old around the Wellesley High School track, plus rides, games, food and a silent auction. More info here.

Wellesley's Ainge recovering after minor heart attack

Channel 5 in Boston is reporting that Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge is recuperating at Mass General after an artery blockage caused chest pains and a minor heart attack earlier today. The 50-year-old Ainge, a Wellesley resident, is said to be hoping to get released in a few days.

Hole lotta nothin' going on at Wellesley Inn site

The Townsman has the latest on the big crater on Washington St. that doesn’t look like it’s going to get filled anytime soon. The Durant condo/retail project has been stalled due to the economy. A public hearing is set for April 27 regarding the project’s future.

Wellesley College: Why so tents?

Some students are making a statement — by camping out on campus — regarding Wellesley College’s recently announced layoffs (the school offers an FAQ explaining its financial situation here). Students are naturally concerned about what their $48K for tuition and fees for the 2008-2009 is buying them as staff is cut.

Wellesley K-12 Art Show packing 'em in

Wellesley Free Library was packed last night for the artists’ reception for the K-12 Art Show, which highlights dozens of works by students in Wellesley’s public school system. The exhibit, which spans several rooms in the library, runs through April 29.
