Wellesley police reaching out via technology again

The Wellesley Police Department has signed on with a website called Nixle to provide alerts to community members on everything from bank robberies to traffic jams via their email and cellphones.

The new alert system will go beyond what the cops currently provide via their Twitter feeds and on their website, and the department says its main notifications will be via Nixle

The new service is free, though you will need to go to the Nixle website, register and specify which types off alerts you want. See further instructions here.
