Wellesley School Department shoots down Canobie Lake Park trip

Wellesley Public School Superintendent Bella Wong, acting on advice of the town’s Health Department, has directed Wellesley Middle School to nix its planned trips for 6th, 7th and 8th graders to Canobie Lake Park in New Hampshire this coming Monday/Friday. The concern: students might be at increased risk of contracting/spreading sickness, such as the flu-like illness that’s been swirling around town.

Josh Frank, who has to be dying to deliver some good news to parents/students in light of his recent string of bomb threat/911 call updates, informed parents of the change in plans today. He says some fun replacement activities at school for Friday/Monday are under development.

The news comes just days after the school department put the kibosh on the annual 5th graders’ Thompson Island retreat going forward, for cost/time reasons.
