Wellesley Free Library has been aggressive about putting newfangled gadgets (such as self-playing audiobooks called Playaways) and online reading services (such as the OverDrive downloadable audiobooks) into patrons’ hands. We heard a recent NPR report on libraries lending e-readers such as Amazon.com Kindles or Barnes & Noble Nooks (shown here) and inquired about whether the Wellesley Free Library might do likewise. Sure enough, getting ahold of some e-readers is under active consideration by the library and a decision could be made in the next month or two. Interest to date seems to be largely from people who want to try them out before buying them.
