How Wellesley voted: Coakley, Brown win big

According to preliminary results in the special Senate primary today, Martha Coakley grabbed about 45% of the vote among Democratic candidates in Wellesley (1,771 votes), with Alan Khazei finishing second at 974 votes. Michael Capuano finished next at 802, followed by Steve Pagliuca at 389.

Republican candidate Scott Brown trounced Jack E. Robinson 1,100 to 47 votes.

Those results pretty much matched up with statewide voting on the Democratic and Republican sides, except that Khazei had a stronger showing in town than he did across the state.

About a third of eligible Wellesley voters turned out at the polls.
