Newsweek doesn’t like Wellesley High as much as it used to

Wellesley High SchoolNewsweek’s latest rankings of America’s Best High Schools is out and the good news is that Wellesley High School made the cut, at number 987.  Just over 1,600 schools — about 6% of public schools in the U.S. — are listed. (Rankings are “based on how hard school staffs work to challenge students with advanced placement college-level courses and tests.”)

The bad news? Last year Wellesley was ranked #648 and that was down from #355 in 2006. Maybe the new high school building will help reverse the trend.
