Thursday night’s hip hop concert at the Wellesley town green had a distinctly different feel to it than the usual summer concerts. For one thing, the average age of those attending was roughly 50 years younger than that of the usual crowd (not that us oldsters weren’t entirely unrepresented last night). For another, it’s the first time I’ve been to one of these events where the performers (in this case, opening act Aer, out of Wayland) called a time-out to apologize for dropping in a little salty language: “Sorry, this was supposed to be a non-swearing show,” one of the singers sheepishly said.
Main act Cam Meekins from Wellesley (seen above) wrapped up the night with new and old songs, mainly of a pretty mellow nature, which helped pull much of the crowd off its butts and around the stage. Meekins told the audience that this was his favorite show to date given that he lives in Wellesley (though he assured us he didn’t actually live in Town Hall).
