Livening up empty Wellesley Square storefronts with art

Rugged Bear art in windows Wellesley Square

Linear Retail, which leases the Central Plaza properties in Wellesley Square, has been talking to the town about brightening up its empty storefronts by displaying art in them. Look for Wellesley College student art, for example, at the old Rugged Bear space. A nice idea that would be great to see others jump on. The Wellesley Community Art Project (WellesleyCAP@gmail.com) is part of a broader initiative to revitalize Wellesley Square.

Meanwhile, Linear has been on a roll filling up a number of its storefronts with new tenants. Gustare Oils & Vinegars is replacing Bonsoir at 90 Central St., a Boloco burrito shop is filling the old Betsy’s spot next to the fire station, and a MiniLuxe spa is sliding into part of the old Neena’s space. Bonsoir and Neena’s bolted or are bolting Wellesley Square for Linden Square.
