Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club had a nice night Sunday for its 5th annual Luminary Night, as residents light up their decorations to celebrate the holiday season and to  support of club’s charitable giving program. *Festival of Trees at Elm Bank Reservation. Check out themed holiday trees and fancy gingerbread houses, plus catch a train ride around Elm Bank’s grounds. Viewing Days: Nov. 23 thru Dec. 10 (open Thanksgiving Day) Hours: weekends and the day after Thanksgiving: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Other days: 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Train rides are from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Sunday (except Thanksgiving) Special note: On Saturday, Dec. 10, the Festival will close at 7 p.m in order to notify the tree lottery winners. General Admission: $8 for Adults, Children under 12 FREE!  Children age 14 or younger must be accompanied by an adult. More info from MassHort.

*Dec. 3, Linden Square Holiday Celebration. 2-4pm in Linden Square. Santa, Rudolph and Snowman from 2-330pm, Kathy McCrohan Dance Center Nutcracker Solist Performance at 2:15pm, Holiday Caroling by Wellesley Middle School Community Chorus at 3:30pm. Check here for more info and rain location.

*Dec. 3. Trees & Trimmings. Saint John School, 9 Ledyard Street, Wellesley.  Annual holiday market will be filled with everything you need for Christmas: freshly cut trees, custom decorated wreaths,  boxwoods and roping, homemade baked goods, kids’ crafts and a toy raffle. 9am-5pm.

*Dec. 4. Wellesley Holiday Stroll. From noon-6pm in Wellesley Square. Merchants will join forces to decorate the square, offer sales and sponsor a drawing for more than $1,000 in gift certificates (you’ll need to get a card stamped by 10 retailers to enter). Carolers, refreshments, author signings, and yes, Santa, will be part of the activities.

*Dec. 4. 5th Annual Luminary Night. Homes throughout Wellesley will light luminary candles and place them along driveways and sidewalks in a non-denominational celebration of the season.  Proceeds will directly benefit the WHJWC’s Charitable Giving program.  Luminary kits can be purchased online at www.whjwc.org.  Luminary kits are sold for $20 each and include materials to create ten luminaries.  Complete with instructions, kits will be delivered to your home during the week of Nov. 28.

*Dec. 8. Sprague Cookie Walk. Come peruse the wide variety of culinary delights laid out by Sprague Elementary School parents at Sprague’s yummiest fundraiser. Shop for your holiday gift baskets, or pick up some delicious treats for yourself! Younger children can enjoy interactive music and dancing performances on the Sprague Gym stage while you shop. 2:30-4:30pm.

*Dec. 9-11. Boy Scout Tree Sale. Shop for trees, wreaths, roping and holiday greens. Dec. 9, 5-8pm, Dec. 10, 8am-8pm,  Dec. 11, 10am-4pm.  888 Worcester St./Rte. 9 next to St. James the Great Church. More info on Boy Scouts.

*Dec. 11. Holiday Pops. Wellesley Symphony Orchestra concert. Sleigh rides from England, Russia, Brazil & America plus a New England Sleighride by Robert Way and Symphonic Sleighride by Greg Rice (World Première). Popular soprano, Emily Browder Melville, will join us in many holiday favorites. Our traditional and popular audience sing-along, the WSO “Two Front Teeth” contest winner, a visit from Santa, and the kids get to conduct the orchestra

Tickets may be purchased in advance at: Walgreens (266 Washington St, Wellesley) ; Wellesley Books (82 Central St, Wellesley) or at the Box Office on the day of the concert. Ticket prices: Adult – $25; Senior/Student – $20; Free admission for children under 12.

Dec. 24. Christmas pageant. 7pm at Wellesley Congregational Church (Village Church), Wellesley Square

The old-fashioned Holiday Junction trains and tracks at Faber’s Rug in Wellesley Square are back for your viewing pleasure, along with an amusement park setup and other old but well-preserved toys. The Wellesley Historical Society display has become a holiday tradition in town.

Wellesley Middle School held its annual Turkey Promenade on Wednesday, an event during which students celebrate home room spirit and dress up according to various themes, such as superheros or sports. They also brought in food and household products to support an outfit called Voices against Violence.

And a couple of pictures from Wellesley Dental Group’s Halloween party. Also, drop off extra candy at the dental office at 5 Seaward through Nov. 10, and they’ll send it along with any handwritten notes to US troops overseas.

Here are some of the Halloween-related happenings planned for Wellesley this month (we’ll keep updating as new items come in):

*Oct. 15.-til… Pumpkins for sale at Wellesley Hills Congregational Church at 207 Washington St., starting Oct. 15.

*Oct. 29. Halloween Parade & Party at Linden Square courtyard, 2-4pm. Costumes, pet parade, story time, freebies, fun.

*Oct. 29. Haunted house at Tilly’s Bacon St. Farm (in Natick, but pretty darn close).  6:30-9:00pm. It’s a fund-raiser for the Natick Drama Workshop, donations welcome but not required.  Rain Date is Oct 30^th

*Oct. 30. The Dana Hall School of Music will hold its first annual Halloween Open House with Musical Trick-or-Treating Sunday, October 30 from 3-5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Families and children of all ages are invited to come in costume and participate in seasonal sing-a-longs, music playgroups, crafts, instrument discovery, trick-or-treating and more. There will be i candy and the sounds of a different musical instrument behind each door. The School of Music is located at 103 Grove St. in Wellesley. For more information call (781) 237-6542 or e-mail music@danahall.org.

*Oct. 30. Drop in to enjoy a Howl-o-ween Party at Wellesley Free Library. Wear your costumes and join our canine reading buddies for a howling good time!  Kids in grades K-4 can sign up for a 15-minute session from 2-2:45 and read to one of our Certified Pet Therapy dogs.  Bring your own book or read one of ours.  Pre-registration to read to a dog is required starting October 23. To sign up, stop by the Children’s Department or call 781-235-1610 ext 1108. Then drop in for the party which starts at 3:00 p.m. We’ll have stories, a craft and a snack.

*Oct. 30. Wellesley College Guild of Carillonneurs presents the Haunted Tower on campus at the Galen Stone Tower from 4-6pm. Guild members will be dressed in costume, and will be playing spooky music, including the Addams Family theme song, “Hedwig’s Theme” from Harry Potter, “Danse Macabre,” and “Funeral March of a Marionette.” The Haunted Tower is always a lot of fun because the tower has the perfect environment for a spooky evening event and the haunting sound of the bells can be heard all over campus. And you just never know where a body might show up (like in an elevator shaft, shown here).

*Oct. 31. Whole Foods Market at 442 Washington St., will host a party for kids from 2-4pm, including treats, games, more.

*Oct. 31. Join the Council on Aging for its second annual Spooktakular Celebration for seniors at 1pm. Costume competition with a panel of esteemed judges. Candy and other Halloween treats. Call the Council on Aging to register 781-235-3961.

NOTE: The annual Poet’s Corner haunted house is not happening this year due to construction at the house.

It’s not even Halloween or Thanksgiving yet, but Mass Horticultural Society is on the hunt for businesses, individuals and organizations who want to sponsor or create trees to show off at this year’s Festival of Trees, taking place Nov. 23-Dec. 10 (including on Thanksgiving Day) at Elm Bank Reservation on the Wellesley/Natick line on Rte. 16.

New this year will be a train to take visitors around the grounds as well as a gingerbread house contest.
