The team starts its season vs. Weymouth in Wellesley at 7pm on Friday. The Globe previews the local high school football team and features a piece on family traditions in football, including that of the Stones (Sam is a captain on the team this year, his brother Alex was last year) and Tanners (Casey is on this year’s team, brother Greg was a star player in the past).

Separately, former Wellesley High player Thomas Claiborne is now starting on the offensive line for Boston College.

WCAC-TV in Wellesley is looking for a sports announcer to assist in producing this fall’s Wellesley Raiders football games.  Wellesley resident Chris Stevens has been announcing the games for the past 11 years and is stepping down along with Rick Dowd, who joined Stevens 2 year ago.
